Icelandair is On Time The management of Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam has announced that Icelandair is the most punctual airline to have used the airport in the year 2000. The Airport is one of the biggest international airports in all of Europe, servicing most of the world’s leading airlines. Using exact calculations for actual departure/arrival times, as opposed to estimated times, for all flights in the year 2000, Airport Management was able to determine which airline had the highest on-time accuracy. Icelandair received this award for the year 2000, thanks to an 86 per cent on-time arrival/departure record. The airline’s overall goal for punctuality is for all flights to arrive or depart within 15 minutes of the scheduled time. The results are quite an achievement, since in the year 2000 the average record for punctuality at Schiphol Airport was calculated at 64 per cent. Icelandair has always placed great emphasis on punctuality, and considers it one of its core values, which can clearly be seen when comparing its on- time record with the overall percentage at Schiphol. Icelandair flies seven times a week between Amsterdam during the sum- mer, and five times a week during the winter months.
