As Europe’s financial capital, Frankfurt is definitely a city full of bankers walking
around in grey business suits and briefcases. But Frankfurt is much more than
finance. Dissected by the Main River, it exudes an old-world flavour despite the tow-
ers of glass that occupy the skyline. (The most notable high-rise is the Commerzbank
building which skies 298 m above the city – Europe’s largest building.) After watch-
ing the sun set from one of Frankfurt’s many bridges, head to the cobblestone streets
of Alt-Sachsenhausen for a taste of Frankfurt’s nightlife. If you plan on sampling
numerous glasses of applewine, try not to eat too many sausages during the day.
