WATER
There are few cities more romantic than Amsterdam. A
shocking statement, I know, but weave away from the red-
light district and into the small enclaves such as the Jordaan
neighbourhood, located west of Centraal Station. Here you’ll
find artists sitting in small cafés, narrow cobbled streets,
back alleys, tree-lined promenades and, of course, criss-
crossing canals. When dusk descends on the Jordaan neigh-
bourhood, the street lamps flicker to light, casting beehive
reflections over the tobacco-coloured water. Stand on an
arched bridge as dusk fades to night. Just be careful not to
get knocked over by the wave of romance rushing past.
