One of the best ways to discover Copenhagen is to observe
the city while sitting on one of the many canal boats floating
about. The logical boarding point is in the Nyhavn district,
where multicoloured houses dot the quayside street and
tourists mix with the locals that hang out by the water’s edge
on sun-filled days. Before boarding the wooden canal boats,
so masterfully sailed by those beloved canal-boat captains,
have a sit-down meal at one of the neighbourhood cafés, or
grab a hot dog and a beer and take a seat on the curb like
those sagacious locals. Heck, you might be so enchanted by
the passing of city life that you skip the canal boat altogeth-
er. No worries, as the sun sets romantic on Nyhavn, send
your better half in for a few more beers and enjoy the twilight
gleaming off the water.
