What does dancing in New Zealand
look like? What about in Estonia?
Find out in the Netherlands. From
18 October through 8 November,
dance troupes from around the
globe will convene in The
Hague, the Netherlands, for
the ninth annual Holland
Dance Festival. This year’s
‘Singular Sensations’ invites
visitors to discover their
own singular sensations
by experiencing world-
class dance though an
extensive series of
performances
and workshops.
Troupes from
Cuba, India,
New Zealand,
and Iceland,
among many others, will
have multiple performances
during the three-week festival.
In the spirit of the event, Iceland
Dance Company will perform
‘The Match’, a choreographic
football contest between Iceland
and the Netherlands.
Last year, the Holland Dance Festival
added to its repertoire an amateur
dance event, which continues this year
with Dansparade, an impromptu perfor-
mance of one thousand amateur dancers
parading through the streets of The
Hague. An international symposium, Not
Just Any Body and Soul, will also be held to
address the unique challenges that profes-
sional dancers encounter in their careers.
