With its modern architec-
ture and historical flair from
the old Icelandic sagas, the
new Icelandair Saga Lounge
at Keflavík Airport has every-
thing a traveller needs.
The lounge, which seats over 130 guests, offers a quiet relax-
ation area where you can listen to soothing music which leads
you to another world. The dining menu pays tribute to Icelandic
traditions with flatkökur and kleinur along with other delicious
finger food. A special selection of wine will be available at the Saga
Lounge Bar along with other beverages.
Plunge into the comfortable seats and grab an Icelandic saga
from the library corner. The spacious lounge also offers a special
smoking section. For those who are looking for a quiet working
area, the lounge is the perfect place to get inspired. A meeting
facility is available for groups up to ten people. With free wireless
Internet services, passengers can make use of one of several com-
puters on site or hook up their own laptop at especially designed
working stations.
“The team designing the new lounge wanted to create a pleasant
atmosphere where everyone can feel at home. The outcome and
the quality and service should make any passenger fly away with
a smile. The Saga Lounge embraces our Icelandic heritage, and we
are proud of being a quality Nordic airline. We look forward to
welcoming new guests to the spectacular facility,” says María Rún
Hafliðadóttir, Director Customer Service at Icelandair.
The Saga Lounge welcomes all Icelandair Business Class passen-
gers along with Icelandair Saga Gold or Silver card holders.
In partnership with Reykjavík City and the Icelandic Tourist Board, Icelandair in
Paris had their biggest poster campaign, in the Metro system of Paris, to kick off
and follow up on the Iceland Cultural Week in Paris held in October. The posters
clearly were a hit and the number of bookings has increased tremendously. “We are
very happy with the result of the cultural events here in Paris and the two different
promotional campaigns we have been running with Reykjavik City and the Icelandic
Tourist Board before, during and after the events. The number of bookings to
Iceland for the reminder of the year has doubled compared to the same time last
year. In addition, the cultural events have created a lot of attention and numerous
articles have been published about Reykjavik and Iceland. This is a good example of
how much we can achieve working together and I would like to congratulate the
organizations and individuals creating this success”, says Helgi Már Björgvinsson,
General Manager of Icelandair Southern Europe. We welcome the people of France
to Iceland anytime- Bienvenus à Islande!

Icelandair is pleased to announce the opening of its sixth
North American gateway in San Francisco, California. This
will be the airline’s first direct service from the west coast of
the USA. San Francisco operations will be launched on May
18 and continue through October 15, 2005, with up to four
weekly flights.
“The San Francisco gateway will open new channels for trans-
atlantic travel from not only the west coast but also cities in
the southwestern United States and the northwest areas of
the United States and Canada,” said Steinn Logi Björnsson,
Icelandair SVP Sales and Marketing. Icelandair will operate a
Boeing 767 aircraft with a seating capacity of 260, 30 seats in
Business Class and 230 in Economy Class. “Numerous requests
for travel information about Iceland and Scandinavia indicated
that there was a void in this market,” Björnsson continued,
“leading to Icelandair’s decision to make San Francisco our
new gateway.” Björnsson believes the airline’s expansion to the
west coast will further enhance an already strong performance
in the US/Canadian market.
In Europe, the airline will connect through its hub in
Reykjavík, Iceland, via a newly implemented bank of afternoon
direct flights to Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, London, Paris,
Frankfurt and Amsterdam. Frequency will vary to some des-
tinations, depending on days of operations. Watch out San
Francisco! Here we come!
