Next year, Icelandair will celebrate its 70th anniversary. Our history is long and colorful and is being written all
the time, each chapter adding variety and depth to the company. Each flight – this one included – adds to our
experience, and each traveling customer brings his or her own flavor to our story.
Icelandair Group is also on the move, this time taking its place on the Iceland Stock Exchange. Preparation for the
listing has begun, and the process will hopefully be completed during the first half of this year.
Three years ago, the current owner of Icelandair, FL Group, was in fact an airline called Icelandair (yes, the
very same!) that owned several subsidiaries in the travel and tourism industry and was listed on the Iceland Stock
Exchange. Under new ownership it expanded and changed, and it is now an investment company with holdings in
various types of businesses other than the airline sector. The board of FL Group is now diversifying ownership of
Icelandair Group and giving public and institutional investors the opportunity to acquire a direct interest in Icelandair
and affiliated companies on the Stock Exchange.
Icelandair Group is an Icelandic flight, transport, and travel services company that operates internationally. We’ve
been growing fast. Last year we set a company record of one and a half million international scheduled passengers,
an increase of almost 40 percent in two years. This summer we fly our Boeing 757s and Boeing 767s on over 140
flights from Iceland to 22 different destinations in Europe and the United States every week. And we’ve seen even
faster growth in our international Charter and Cargo operations.
The listing of Icelandair Group on the Iceland Stock Exchange represents yet another new chapter in the compa-
ny’s illustrious history.
