58 AT L A N T I CA a If you’re feeling good about what you’ve accomlished today, I’d suggest you steer clear of taking a look at Brian Griffin’s CV. The acclaimed British portrait photographer from Birmingham has photographed Kate Bush, Elvis Costello, Billy Idol, and everybody in between. A few years back, Griffin turned his eye on Iceland, and has been periodically working and exhibiting in Reykjavík ever since. In his latest book project, “The Water People,” Griffin teamed up with Reykjavík Energy, the company supplying hot water and electricity to the city, to go where only Jules Verne has gone before: on a journey to the center of earth. The 27 years of photographs chronicle the changes in the technol- ogy of photography as much as provide a visual record of an artist’s life. Polaroids, videos, cuttings, diaries, photo- wallpaper, super-size prints and cameras all hang together in the exhibit, which the photographer himself characterizes as “so diverse and extensive that it verges on the chaotic.” Örn, who graduated from the Brooks Institute, California, with a BA in photography in 1994, has worked in commer- cial photography, feature films, theater, and television. a “10,000 Days with a Camera,” Reykjavík Museum of Photography.
