105 CHILDREN Lazy Town-Dr. Rottenstein (For further information, see May column) ENTERTAINMENT Food Network Goes to Hollywood How do you teach a Queen to cook? Find out in “Food Network Goes to Hollywood”, a capti- vating documentary following the mem- bers of the Food Network kitchens as they fly to New Orleans and the Czech Republic to teach Queen Latifah how to be a professional chef for her latest box office hit Last Holiday. MOVIE Failure to Launch Tripp’s (Matthew McConaughy) life is just too good. He’s a handsome thirtysomething man with great buddies who enjoy sailing, surfing, rock climbing and mountain biking and he has a string of gorgeous girlfriends. What’s more, he still lives at his parents’ house, being waited on hand and foot... who could ask for more? His parents, however, have a very different opinion – they can’t wait to get him out of the house. In desperation they hire professional advisor Paula (Sarah Jessica Parker), who guarantees she can get Tripp out of the house in no time – sparks are about to fly! ENTERTAINMENT Extreme Close-Up/Steve Martin in Pink Panther (For further information, see May column) VISUAL ART Snowforms 2003 Live painting by Gudrun Kristjansdottir Music by Dagur Kari www.gudrun.is CHILDREN Lazy Town-Dr. Rottenstein The kids are growing vegetable gardens, and Robbie disguises himself as the quack/doctor: Dr. Rottenstein, sprinkling the vegetables and the kids with “spots” and declaring the town under quarantine from Spotty Vegetitus! Worse, anything healthy is banned… most especially Sportacus. It is up to Ziggy to eat his vegetables and help Sportacus save the day! ENTERTAINMENT Food Network Goes to Hollywood (For further information, see June column) MOVIE Last Holiday Comedy star Queen Latifah stars in this charm- ing tale of a sales person who learns she has only weeks to live. Deciding not to let this overwhelm her, she quits her job, cashes in her savings and buys a one-way ticket for a dream vacation to Europe. Being totally unknown to the “jet set”, she becomes the object of everyone’s curiosity and quickly finds herself involved in big business and international politics! Her trip will be the holiday of a lifetime. ENTERTAINMENT Extreme Close-Up / Steve Martin in Pink Panther In this episode we take a look at Steve Martin step- ping into the role made famous by Peter Sellers in the modern adaptation of the Pink Panther. Martin is currently working on the big screen version of his successful stage play, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, which imagines a meeting between a young Pablo Picasso and a young Albert Einstein at a Paris Café at the turn of the 20th century. When Amy confides in Debra, who tells her that Robert’s strange behavior could be psy- chological, she devises a plan to break him of his chin habit for good. MOVIE: Forrest Gump Tom Hanks gives an astonishing performance as Forrest in this acclaimed film from director Robert Zemeckis that rocketed to box-office his- tory and touched the hearts of filmgoers like no other movie. Through three turbulent decades, Forrest rides a tide of events that whisk him from physical disability to football stardom, from Vietnam hero to shrimp tycoon, from White House honors to the arms of his one true love. His triumphs become an inspiration to us all. Forrest Gump, it’s the story of a lifetime. MUSIC: Smooth Jazz A calming mix of instrumental and vocal ballads. The show is a combination of live interviews, biographies, concert footage and video. VISUAL ART Flux 2005 Live painting by Gudrun Kristjansdottir Music by Dagur Kari www.gudrun.is Staring at a land of constant changes, my atten- tion shifts from frozen moments to movements of thaw so the difference between the simple and the ornate blurs and opens up a space for layers of perception.
