REYKJAVÍK IN A NUTSHELL

Reykjavík Complete is a new initiative responsible for the organiza-
tion of tourism and marketing in the city of Reykjavík. They are also
responsible for several of the city's biggest festivals and celebra-
tions on the event calendar – festivals such as Culture Night in the
middle of August or the Winter Lights Festival in February, Festival
of the Sea and many more. The aim of Reykjavík Complete is to
entice people to Reykjavík with the city's natural strengths: its safe
and unpolluted environment, vibrant cultural life, numerous first
class restaurants, rich nightlife and most of all... its Pure Energy.
Part of Reykjavík Complete is running the new official Reykjavík
Tourist Information Centre on Adalstræti 2, which opened in April
2003. This historical building which is newly renovated provides
more service space and many new services and facilities for pro-
moting tourism in Iceland.

Using the Reykjavík Tourist Card is an easy and inexpensive way to enjoy all the best that Reykjavík has to offer.
Cardholders get free entry into all the seven swim-
ming pools in the capital area, ten museums and gal-
leries, and the Reykjavík Family Fun Park and Zoo.
They also travel free on the Strætó buses. In total, the
card gives free entry into 19 places of interest around
the capital (visit the Reykjavík Tourist Information
Centre for details). The card is sold at sales agents all
around Reykjavík, including the Tourist Information
Centre, City Hall and most bookstores.

While you're at "The Centre", you can also check out some of the
natural Icelandic beauty products in The Blue Lagoon Shop or
authentic Icelandic woollens and souvenirs from Iceland gift store.
You'll also be pleased to find a Western Union bank and a money
exchange service all within the comfortable environs of this excel-
lent resource. Be sure to check out the Seafood Cellar, which was
