in with his parents, Eric the Red and fijó›hildur.
Staff dressed in Viking gear transport you back in
time as they recount the lifestyle of Iceland's settlers.
The conception farmhouse at Eiríkssta›ir is open
daily from 1 June - 1 September, 9:00 to 18:00.

GJÁIN “THE RIFT”
Gjáin is a quaking geological information center located in
Eldborg only 800 meters from Blue Lagoon.
Modern technology and a unique environment allow guests to
experience the wonders of geology in a lively and interactive
manner. Gjáin, a true rift, features natural rock walls creating
an atmosphere that easily transfers guests into the center of the
earth.
The exhibition features 18 screens where guests have access to
intriguing information ranging from the creation of the earth
and the earth’s mantle to videos on volcanic eruptions and the
formation of Iceland. The creation of the earth has an impor-
tant role. Subjects such as Glacier over Scandinavia and Iceland,
tropical paradise, can also be found.
The exhibition also gives clear picture of research related to
world geology with special emphasis on Iceland - making it an
attractive option for everyone interested in these subjects.
A state-of-the art sound system allows guests to hear a variety
of sounds from Icelandic nature creating a powerful atmos-
phere.
Guests not only become more knowledgeable about the won-
ders of geology but also experience it first hand.

10:00 to 17:00 (May 15th to August 31st) and
10:00 to 16:00 (September 1st to May 14th
