New comfort at KeflavíK
Icelandair has recently reopened a new and better Saga Lounge at Keflavík.
After extensive modifications, the refurbished Saga Lounge is brighter and
more spacious and ready to accommodate the steadily growing number of
Icelandair passengers who pass through the airport.
The furniture and décor in the new Saga Lounge are based on Iceland’s
nature and culture and reflect the airline’s strong Icelandic roots. Highlights
include a fireplace made of columnar basalt and a cairn made of rocks specially
selected for this project. Pictures by photographer Sigurgeir Sigurjónsson depict
Icelanders and Icelandic waterfalls.
The new lounge also depicts Icelandair’s 75-year history with photographs
and artwork.
aN aviatioN café
To celebrate its milestone birthday with as many as possible, Icelandair has
opened an aviation-themed café in the heart of Reykjavík.
Icelandair kaffi, as it’s known, is intended to remind passengers about
Icelandair’s atmosphere and service, and showcase the airline to people who
will be travelling with them.
Icelandair is operating the café using coffee and other materials from Te og
Kaffi, recognised by the locals as one of the best coffee brands in the country.
The café is decorated with memorabilia from the past 75 years, and the
baristas wear flight attendants’ uniforms. There are also numerous special
activities and promotions that are planned over the summer.

Sitting at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, with over 300 days of sun each year,
Denver, Colorado is one of the most well situated cities in the United States.
Known as the Mile High City, Denver is the gateway to the Aspen and Vail ski
resorts, home to 200 recreation areas and parks, as well as numerous cultural
venues and world-class restaurants and shopping areas.
In May this year, Denver became the newest city to join Icelandair’s extensive
route network connecting Europe and North America through Iceland. There are
now four flights a week to and from the city; they are scheduled to ensure easy
connections at Keflavík airport and in Denver, the fifth busiest airport in the U.S.
Icelandair is the first international carrier to launch service to Denver in near-
ly ten years. “We were thrilled to choose Denver as we fell it is a natural fit for
Icelandair,” said Birkir Holm Guðnason, CEO of Icelandair. “Denverites will love
the nature, lifestyle and culture of Iceland, while Icelanders will feel at home
with the landscape, active lifestyle and independent philosophy in Denver.”
Connections through Keflavík are available to over 20 destinations in
Scandinavia, the UK and Continental Europe. Only Icelandair allows passengers
to stop over in Iceland with no additional airfare.
