as Sprenger in Germany, which specially produce some of their
bits for Lífland in the correct sizes for the Icelandic horse. In ad-
dition, Lífland offers a wide variety of books and DVDs in many
languages about the Icelandic horse. Visit their online store for the

Timeless
To say that the JS Watch Co. Reykjavik crafts elegant timepieces by hand would
be an understatement. In fact, their watches are timeless-refined and sophisti-
cated enough even for the wrists of Jude Law, Quentin Tarantino and Ian An-
derson of Jethro Tull. The JS Watch collection boasts six models, all numbered,
and all of which are painstakingly designed in a small studio in the back of their
storefront on Laugavegur. Master watchmaker Gilbert Guðjónsson assembles
his pieces using only the highest quality mechanisms from Switzerland and
Germany. Bands include genuine ostrich, stingray, and Louisiana alligator, and
a see-through back means you can observe the magic happen inside. JS Watch
Co. Reykjavik is also the official supplier of wristwatches to the Icelandic Coast
Guard and has designed and manufactured a special rescue watch for them that
is used by their helicopter rescue team, as well as airplane pilots, bomb squad
members and divers. The owners of the company proudly declare themselves
“probably the world’s smallest watch manufacturer,” which befits the humility,
simplicity and beauty of their watches. Laugavegur 62. jswatch.com
Discover Day by Day
Whether it’s the Golden Circle, caving, diving in Silfra fissure in Þingvellir National
Park, ice climbing on one of the country’s glaciers, river rafting, horse-riding, or a
trip to the Blue Lagoon you’re after, Iceland Excursions’ variety of guided day tours
from Reykjavík allow you to discover something different on each trip. The popular
trip Volcano Hike tour takes you across Fimmvörðuháls, the site of the 2010 Eyjaf-
jallajökull eruption. New this summer is the Inside a Volcano tour to the dormant
Þríhnúkagígur volcano. The tour starts with a 40 minute hike before a 120 meter
descent to the bottom of the crater via open cable lift. All tours run in English with
selected trips in French, German and Scandinavian. icelandexcursions.is
