The American Scandinavian Socie-
ty hosted an art show for the multi-
talented Icelandic artist Arni Elfar on
November 7th at Citicorp in New
York. Mr. Elfar's water colors,
acrylics and graphic illustrations
which were on display showed us
Iceland. Many of his pictures were
street scenes from Reykjavík, and we
recognized several pictures of Hofdi,

block. It also makes a fine Christmas

however, Mr. Elfar's talent as a
caricaturist seemed to be the most
popular. People stood in line to have
him draw them, and his talent in this
area is considerable.
Mr. Elfar has been with the sym-
phony orchestra in Iceland for the
past 30 years and was very popular
during the big band era of the 50's.
This evening we also had the
pleasure of listening to this talented
artist playing the piano for us.

dar for 1987 is produced by the Rev.
Arland O. Fiske, a Lutheran minister
in Minot, North Dakota, who is also

Iceland, Norway, Sweden) and in-

historical events that occurred in

celebration of Leif Erickson Day in
his native Iceland, while April 23
observes that in 1014 Vikings lost a
battle in Ireland to Brian Boru, a
forbear of President Ronald Reagan.
