he has competed regularly in festivals
and competitions both in Melfort, and
later in Swift Current, which was his
home from age ten until graduating from
high school in 1984. He joined the band
program as a trombone player in Swift
Current and participated in concert
bands, jazz bands and combos. Upon
graduation from high school, David at-

Music where he studied piano with Dr.
Lawrence Jones and Donald Henry.
Throughout thistime David took part in
several masterclasses, includingtwo sum-

David spent a year in Iceland where he
was Headmaster of the Music School of
Flateyri in Önundarfjörður in the West-

pet, trombone, music theory, directed a
small band, played organ and directed the
church choir, continued to perform, and
composed the score of a new play that the
drama society of Flateyri performed

days at sea working on an Icelandic fish-
ing trawler before retuming to Canada.
David is presently completing a mas-
ter’s degree at McGill University. Upon
graduating, he plans to continue his mu-
sical studies, teaching and performing. If
that doesn’t work out, he hopes to get
back on with the fishing trawler.
