SUBJECTS:
ORGANIZING
COMMITTEE:
The major theme of the conference is the impact of computers and infcr-
mation systems on individuals and organizations; the impact on all staff
levels, clerks, workers, managers, decision makers and specialists; what
is the status to-day? What are the likely consequences of the emerging
computer technology (distributed processing, minicomputers, word proces-
sing etc.)?
A second theme is that of evaluating the behavioural aspects before the
systems are implemented. What kind of methods and procedures are avail-
able in order to ensure that the organizational objectives are met to-
gether with the technical and economic objectives?
A third major theme relates to the way of organizing your activities
for socio-technical systems design. How does one ensure user partipi-
tation? What kind of training would be needed? What do we know about
implementing information systems?
The underlying rationale behind these themes is that the use of infor-
mation systems is one of the most important factors in changing the role
of the individuals and the organizational structure. So far, however,
these changes have been to a large extent unplanned, underrated and only
seldom understood. Thus the potential is not widely exploited. Hopefuliy
the conference will contribute towards capitalizing on this potential.
The programme committee will be chaired by Dr. Niels Bjorn-Andersen,
The Copenhagen School of Economics and Business Administration, and
the arrangements committee will be chaired by Mr. Ejvind Naesborg,
Danish IAG.
