President's Report
By G. A. ERLENDSON
It is my pleasure to greet you all and bid you welcome to
this 29th Annual Convention of the Lutheran Women’s League of
Manitoba (Icelandic). We are very pleased to be the guests of the
Ladies Aid of Braedra Congregation, Riverton. Personally, I would
like to thank the Aid for inviting us. Had the convention been any
other place further away from Arborg, I would not have been
able to attend. I want you to know how very glad I am to be here.
There have been three executive meetings this past year.
The incorporation of the Lutheran Women’s League of Manitoba
(Icelandic) has been completed. The Charter, titles for the Sunrise
Camp and Arnes property, together with the constitution and rules
of the League, duly signed by the Provincial Secretary are now in
the hands of our Secretary. The seal has been procured and will
be kept in a safety deposit box together with all legal papers.
I would like to express our sincerest thanks to the committee in
charge of incorporation, also the women who drew up the constitu-
tion. We realize what painstaking work this has been, and how
unselfishly they have given of their time to complete this work.
I would like to pay special tribute to Mrs. Elizabeth Bjarnarson,
Langruth, lst vice-president of the League, for how much she has
done for me. I was unable to attend the first two executive meetings.
Mrs. Bjarnason graciously took over, planned the meetings in
Winnipeg, presided and dealt with the many matters on the agenda.
I appreciate with what good will she did all these things, knowing
what a busy woman she is. I would also like to thank Mrs. Emily
Vigfusson, my corresponding secretary for her fine co-operation,
and her willingness to assist me in every way possible. It has been
very gratifying to have these women working for, and with me.
Our Sunrise Camp is indeed an achievement of which we can
be proud. Its a dream come true of a place where our youth is
inspired with the joy of Christian fellowship. It develops an
appreciation of the finer things of life, the beauties and wonders of
nature, and the happiness of sharing this with others. We must
consider and appreciate what a tremendous undertaking this has
