August 6th to 14th—Intermediate Girls. Dean, Miss Gloria
Sivertson, Winnipeg; Instructor, Miss Eleanore Gillstrom; Dining
Room Hostess, Mrs. Stan Sigurdson, Selkirk; Nurse, Mrs. B. M.
Paulson, Winnipeg. Leaders: Miss Margaret Sigvaldason, Riverton;
Miss Gudrun Skulason, Geysir; Mae Henry, Petersfield; Roberta
Corrigal, Selkirk; Violet Barnson, Selkirk; and Betty Glendinning,
Selkirk.
During the season, Jack Ried of Selkirk, was recreational leader
and swimming instructor. The cooks for the season were Mrs. E.
Ozoref of Clandeboye, and Mrs. M. Oliver of Selkirk.
Mrs. Albert Wathne of Winnipeg taught weaving with two
groups, the senior and intermediate girls. Over a hundred pieces,
showing excellent workmanship in weaving, were done by the
campers. The camp is greatly indebted to Mr. and Mrs. Wathne,
who so freely gave of their time and money to this cause. Mrs.
Wathne was assisted (part time) by Mrs. Clara Finnson of Winnipeg,
and Mrs. Veiga Thorsteinson of Husavick.
Following is a list of donations received at camp during the
summer:
Ladies’ Aid, Bjork, Lundar, four woollen blankets and 12 pairs
pillow cases. Ladies Aid, Undina, Hecla, two large boxes of home-
cooking containing vinatertas, date bars, layer cakes, date loaves,
sunshine cakes and 20 dozen cookies. Ladies from Langruth sent
36 dozen cookies and 12 quarts of jellies and preserves. Earlier in
the spring they sent two cartons of jam and jelly (home-made).
Langruth Ladies’ Aid sent following articles of furniture for the
camp hospital: davenport, chest of drawers, table, rugs, bedside table
and three woollen comforters.
