4 THE WHITE FALCON Friday, August J, |9f>9 Rockville’s 932nd . . . Home of the Professionals! The 932nd Airborne Control and Warning Squadron (AC&W), which was built for the Air Force in 1953, is the Master Direction Center Warning Operational Control of the 57th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (FIS) and the 667th AC&W Squadron. Approximately 140 men are sta- tioned at the Rockville site to carry out its mission as directed by the Commander of Air Forces Iceland to: “Defend Iceland against air attack by directing the Air Defense Operations of all forces made avail- able for this purpose, and conduct sustained air defense surveillance and aircraft control operations to the limit of radar capabilities.” By directing the F-102’s of the 57th FIS to the point of intercept, the men at Rockville accomplish their mission of identifying poten- tially hostile aircraft flying over the North Atlantic.
