8 THE WHITE FALCON Friday, August 1, 1969 Golf tourney scheduled Entries are now being accepted for the station golf tournament that will be held at the Shangri-la golf course, beginning August 11. The tournament, which is open to all station personnel, will be run in flights. A flight is a group of eight men of comparable average who com- pete against each other. Trophies will be awarded to the first and sec- ond place finisher in each flight. Those who wish to enter the tourney should contact Dick Plante at ext. 5191 or sign-up at the gym. The dead- line for entry is August 8. w \ $ \ f4 0, iL felt >}< \ f > to • \N Tom Currie Four station linksters today are in the final leg of competition in the 72 hole 1st Naval District golf championship. The district tournament which began last Monday in Brunswick, Maine is a prelude to the regional championships that are to be held from August 4-8 in Brunswick. The four representatives from Keflavik are from left, Dave Legare, NCS, Bill Mallon, CFK, Bill Conley, AirOps and Walt Lasher, VP-24. was 13-3 at the end of four. High School broke the tie in the second as they turned a fielders choice, a walk and a pair of back to back singles by Dan Sullivan and Don Freeman into three runs. Miller then proceeded to drive in four more runs in the inning by hitting a grand slam over the left-field fence. Weather was retired in order in the bottom of the inning. In the third inning C. W. Byers ac- counted for the only H. S. run as he tallied on a single by Dan Smithson. Weather came to bat in the bottom of the inning and accounted for their third run of the game when William Stevens tallied on a single by Harold Dreisse. Miller got one more RBI to his credit in the fourth inning by coming up with an in-the-park homer. William Sullivan and Byers followed with singles sandwiched around a fly-out, accounting for two runs before the side retired. Weather made no show in their half of the inning.
