EGILL HALLDORSSON
A relaxing atmosphere for reading
Station library serves residents
National Library Week is now
going on. The naval station li-
brary has joined thousands of li-
braries across the country, and
in many overseas areas in noting
this annual observance.
Sponsored by the American Li-
brary . Association and the Navy,
this week (April 18 - 25) is set
aside to renew our acquaintances
with some of our prized posses-
sions — books.
The station library, under the
guidance of Egill Halldorsson,
provides a source of reference
material as well as more than
15,000 other books for entertain-
ment and educational reading. It
is the job of the station librar-
ian to distribute magazines to
all sites, departments and activ-
ities on the base, as well as
keep track of all those books.

You may be approached for a donation during the next two
weeks. This donation is for Sudanese refugees.
Bureau of Naval Personnel arrives
monthly to add to the growij^^^k
number. In addition, the libra^^^H
has a modest budget from the
reation department to purchase
books on its own. The library
also has a section for pocket
books. The paperbacks are avail-
able for exchange, and readers
are asked to leave one book when
•one is taken. Donations of pa-
perbacks for the library from in-
dividuals are welcome.
Although no official decisions
have been made, the library is
attempting to obtain larger fa-
cilities to accomodate its grow-
ing volume of books.
If you haven't already visited
the library this week, now is a
good time. If you don' t know
where it is, it is the small white
building across the street from
the commissary, and between the
clothing store and toyland.
