In service to God
PWOC assists
women on base
Frequently, naval station r
idents encounter the title "Pro1
estant Women of the Chapel."
Some have asked, "What are its
purposes?" and "What is it doing
here on the base?"
Hie PWOC has a four-fold pur-
pose; to lead women to accept
Christ as Savior and Lord, to
teach women the history, aims and
programs of the Church built on a
solid foundation of worship and
Bible study, to develop women in
the skills of prayer, evangelism,
friendliness, stewardship, teach-
ing and social service against a
background of personal spiritual
development, and to engage women
in the work of the chapel in keep-
ing with their abilities and in-
terest.
At the present time, the PWOC
is engaged in helping families on
the base who are in need, mending
for the hospital, and visiting
women in their homes.
The Protestant Women of the
Chapel invite women on the naval
station to join them. They meet
the first Monday of each month in
the chapel annex. The meetings
alternate between afternoon and
evening meetings. Afternoon meet-
ings are at 1:15, and evenings
are 7:30. Nursery service is
free to those attending afternoon
meetings.
