to entertain
next week
Eight coeds and seven young
men from the University of Maine1 s
Portland-Gorham campus are cur-
rently on a USO, AETA and defense
department sponsored 33-day tour
of the northeast area. During
their stop in Iceland, "The Tree-
house Players" will entertain de-
fense force members with their
production of "Carnival."
The group is expected to ar-
rive on Tuesday, July 13 and be
ready for its first scheduled
performance at Andrews Theater at
8 p.m., July 14.
On Thursday, they are slated
to fly to H-3 for an afternoon
performance and return the same
day for a 7:30 show at the "0"
Club. Friday's sole performance
will take place at the 56 Club at
6 p.m.
Saturday's prospective sched-
ule of events includes a 2 p.m.
performance at the Polar Club and
an 8 p.m. show at Grindavik.
Their last performance day
will be Sunday. The first show
of that day is planned for the
CPO Club at 2 p.m. and the final
show is reserved for Rockville at
7 p.m.
In addition to the stage pro-
duction, the group has also pre-
pared a variety show with songs,
dances and comedy skits. The
group will be sightseeing Monday
and will depart Tuesday, July 20.

Age limits and new uniforms
This is the ninth in a series of articles naming the Chief of Na
val Operations' Z-grams, what they are, their purpose, and how they
are being implemented within the defense force.
• Z-gram 80 promulgates a change to the structure of E-8/E-9 se-
lection boards initiated by the -----------------------
first MCPO of the Navy. This Z-
gram, which required no local ac-
tion, also paid tribute to MCPO
Delbert Black.
• Z-gram 81 announced changes
to the age and active time in
service requirements for the Reg-
ularNavy Warrant Officer Program.
Changes will be incorporated into
the BuPers Manual. This informa-
tion was promulgated to all hands.
• Z-gram 82 pointed out that
300 different boards or committees
are in use at various echelons of
command within the Navy. This
Z-gram further urged commanding
officers, 'among others, to cancel
where possible any boards,commit-
tees in existence not required by
higher authority. This Z-gram has
been referred to the NavSta's Re-
view Board and Committee for im-
plementation and necessary ac-
tion.
• Z-gram 83 established a
three-month pilot program at Nor-
folk and San Diego naval stations
for the purpose of coordinating
transportation requirements be-
tween the naval stations and a-
float units. No local action was
required.
• Z-gram 84 established a
copy servicefor officer's fitness
reports whereby an officer can
obtain copies of his five most
recent fitness reports by paying

SKI James D. Weaver has been
petty officer in charge of the
transportation section of Sup-
ply's Materiel Division since
his arrival in June 1969.
Personnel aboard the base
come into contact with him pri-
marily from his responsibility
in handling all aspects of im-
porting and shipping private
cars to and from Iceland. His
duties include customs clearan-
ces, JO numbers and shipping
scheduling.
SKI Weaver has been in the
Navy almost 15 years.

mulgated to all naval officers of
the defense force.
• Z-gran 85 summarized several
legislative actions of the 91st
Congress which will directly bene-
fit, aid and assist Navy members
and their dependents. Information
contained in Z-gram 85 was pro-
mulgated to all hands through the
Plan of the Day.
• Z-gram 86 broadened the pre-
sent postgraduate program so that
a small group of highly selected
officers will be afforded an op-
portunity to pursue graduate edu
cation at colleges or universitii
of their choice in fields of stui
compatible with their respective
specialty or sub-specialty. Eli-
gible officers are those in the
grade of lieutenant commander and
below. No specific action was re-
quired on the local level.
• Z-gram 87 announced changes
to the Navy uniform. This is the
Z-gram that brought about the de-
letion of the officers' and CPO's
service dress khaki, chief's ser-
vice dress whites and the estab-
lishment of a dress uniform for all
enlisted men similar to that worn
by CPOs and officers.
• Z-gram 88 established guide-
lines for the availability of ad-
vance pay. Normally one month's
pay, less certain deductions, may
be advanced incident to a perma-
nent change of station. This Z-
gram authorized an advance of
greater amounts vhen appropriate.
• Z-gram 89 established a pro-
gram whereby two officers will be
selected annually to serve in the
immediate offices of the Secre-
tary of the Navy and CNO in a fel-
lowship capacity. Interested of-
ficers of all categories with six
through 11 years of active com-
missioned service are invited to
apply via commanding officers.
