After four weeks...
Fewer unbeatens in base cage play
Four teams remained undefeated at the end of last week1s competi-
tion in the seven base intramural leagues. Seven other clubs managed
to get by with only one setback.
CommSta's Big Orange team overcame a cold shooting night against
AirOps and managed to keep their —-----------------------
7-0 record intact in the A league
A full three games back at 4-3
was NSGA. Supply, AirOps, VP-49
and ComFAirKef followed. VP-56
has arrived to replace VP-49, and
the defending champs figure to be
a factor for the remainder of the
season.
Supply's David Devaney held a
slim lead in the point per game
scoring race with 18.6 for five
games compared to teammate Chip
Meyer's 18.5 in four contests.
Jack Beck's 117 points were high
total.
Following AMD's loss to Com-
FAirKef , the Teachers stood alone
on top of the B League with a 7-0
mark. AMD and Rockville sported
5-1 slates while the High School
and Grindavik had suffered only
two defeats.
High Schooler David Devaney
stood alone at the top of the B
league scoring race, scorching
the nets at a 25.8 pace.
ComFAirKef II sported its 7-0
record at the top of C league.
Admin was one game back at 6-1,
and Hospital, Fleet Weather, NSGA
and Comptroller followed at 5-2.
The top two C scorers remained
the same. Hospital's Dave Hettel
led at 13.5, and Mick O'Dell of
ComFAirKef had a 11.8 average.
Mac's Mice remained undefeated
in Ladies Class A play with a 5-0
slate. The Tutors followed with
4-2, then came the Court Jesters,
2-3, and LaGatas, 2-4. The Pink
Panthers picked up their first
win of the campaign last week.
In Class B, the Tabbies were
at 4-1, the Tigers were 3-2, and
the Castaways were winless in
four outings.
Barbara Fredericks (14.6) and
Jean Maxwell (11) are the two big
reasons for Mac's Mice dominance
as they were the only ladies in
double figures in scoring.
Supply and the Orange Patsies
each picked up two wins last week
to remain at the top of the Open
league with 7-1 slates. Exactly
opposite records were carried by
Air Ops and the Whiz Bangs.
Brad Floto's 25.5 average was
high in the Open league, followed
by Vern Chewning (21) and Billy
Bean (20.4). This is a scorer's
league as Jerry Egbring at 19.9
and Chip Meyer at 18.5 sported
impressive figures.
Shaw's Machine led the "fun"
league, the Recreation, with a
7-1 mark. Pruitt's Terrors were
one game back at 6-2.
Denny Bourgeois slipped a bit
but held his scoring lead with a
18.5 average. Mac McGinnis took
over the runnerup slot at 16.6.
