Runs until September 1 Gallerí Ófeigur | Skólavörðustígur 5 (E5) Opens August 2 | 10:00-18:00 | ISK Free! Landscape transcends itself in artist Jóna Þorvaldsdóttir’s most recent body of work. She’s experimented with different types of film and techniques to capture the scenery she sees every day, from the lava in Gálgahraun to the imposing rock formations at Strandir. Taking pictures of landscape, especially in a place as naturally beautiful as Iceland, can be a fairly cliched thing, but Jóna promises to show us something unique and atmospheric. In her large format photographs, she says she makes it clear why some Icelanders believe in elves. RSL Rocks As You’ve Never Seen Them Moment in Time Café Flora | Laugardalur Runs to August 10 | 10:00-22:00 | ISK Free! After living abroad for two decades, Lilja Björk Egilsdóttir returns home to open her new, aptly named paintings exhibit, Heimþrá ("Homesickness"). The Icelandic landscape and nature are unmistakable influences in her work, but what she has learned and seen from her time outside of Iceland cis also apparent. Her memories of both homes blend together in her paintings and sculptures that depict the dichotomy of "away" and "origins." Be sure to check her artwork out as you sip your coffee in Café Flora’s botanical garden. AH All Paths Lead Home Heimþrá Spark Design Space Urban Shape The exhibition by artist Paolo Gianfran- cesco is a series of maps of every European capital. Using Open Street Map (OSM) data, the maps are meant to represent a view of the cities rather than try to capture the reality of them because cities are not static like maps but are continuously evolving over time.
