When you think of Icelandic doom, you should think of Plastic
Gods. Drone, experimental, stoner sludge—describe them how
you like, these guys have been around for a decade, and have
amassed a cult following in that time. They are supported by noise
artist AMFJ, power electronica Döpur, and dark electronic artist
ULTRAORTHODOX. Be there, or be forever branded not-doom-
enough-to-skip-school. MC
We don’t know about you, but we like our hardcore bands crusty—
we don’t want them to have washed for days, and even if they love
kittens, we don’t want them to ever admit it (unless we catch them,
tattooed and ragged, secretly petting their feline overlords). That’s
why Manslaughter’s reunion gig has us up in arms, because they
are the shit. The band is composed of members from distinguished
scene bands like Plastic Gods, Muck and Severed (Crotch). Oh,
and the drummer is from happy-go-lucky electronica band FM
Belfast. Joining them will be Icarus, Klikk and Mannvirki. MC
When you can’t pronounce any of the names of the bands on the
bill, you know it is going to be a good night. On this night, there will
be not one, but FOUR such local acts taking stage, with one aim:
to blow your mind through the powers of METAL. Misþyrming
and Naðra will bring the black metal, Reykavík style (it may or may
not involve puffin suits i.e. they will be dressed as puffins). Thrashy
Mannvirki and Úrhrak will round out the bill, ensuring you get
your metal fill (rhyme intended). MC
