Lækjarbrekka
Situated in one of the older buildings in
downtown Reykjavík (built in 1834), Lækjar-
brekka has been a celebrated institution of
fine dining since the location was extensively
renovated in the early ‘80s.

Litli Bóndabærinn
If it’s a hot shot of strong java you need, this
take-away joint will dose you up with some
of the finest caffeinated beverages in town.
The small digs are dressed up in authentic
farm threads and the service will charm you
into wishing you could move in for a while.
Their international staff makes it especially
visitor-friendly.

6 Kaffibarinn
A popular café on weekdays, on weekends
Kaffibarinn turns into a ticket for a wild night
out, as the space fills up with the late-night
souls oozing energy in every corner. With
DJs playing and the occasional rock band,
the party usually lasts until early morning, yet
often manages to leave you begging for more.

8 Kaffi Kigali
This quaint little coffee house offers a
variety of Rwandan coffee drinks with beans
straight from the farmer at very afford-
able rates, including the must-try Afríkano
drink. Whether you plan to lounge around
on Facebook or want to take your date
somewhere new, we recommend checking
out Kaffi Kigali.

9Húrra
The walls may be dark and adorned with
gloomy paintings, and the lighting minimal,
but when the bands step onto the stage the
place really comes into its own. Armed with
a great sound system, the place delivers a
great experience for music fans throughout
Reykjavík. Oh, and they serve Einstök Pale Ale
and White Ale in beer mugs!

Kryddlegin Hjörtu
Kryddlegin Hjörtu is a cosy restaurant that
offers plenty of healthy options, including
a salad and soup buffet. Swing by if you’re
starting to feel guilty for all of those hot dogs
and want more wholesome and nutritious
food. Make sure not to miss out on their on-
location baked bread.

Ban Thai
Although some claim service at Ban Thai can
at times be lacking, most have no com-
plaints about the food (indeed, we dubbed
it Reykjavík’s “best goddamn restaurant” in
our annual BEST OF issue last year). One of
the few Thai restaurants in Iceland, Ban Thai
gives the diner a unique experience in both
atmosphere and cuisine.
