Pour Some Víking On Me
Bar 11 Anniversary Party
This issue’s picker, Sólveig Matthildur Kristjánsdóttir, can
frequently be seen downtown performing as poetry-punk band
Kælan Mikla’s drummer, or reading poetry with Fríyrkjan. She
also holds down a job at Húrra, and has recently started her
own label, Hið myrka man. Despite generally wearing colourful
clothes, and smiling at whatever life throws her way, Sólveig
says much of her inspiration comes from the gloomier aspects
of life, and is particularly interested in nihilistic music and art
performances.
You can find the events our picker of the issue found to be
interesting spread out over the music and art pages, marked with
this icon.
You’ve had a few too many there. Fallen in love there. Seen your
favorite post-punk-death-math-stoner-grind-core trio there. Well
now it’s time to celebrate the existence of that fateful place ‘cause
Bar 11 is turning twelve, and is celebrating with a weekend of
festivities. Raise your glasses! Indie shoegazers Oyama will be
rocking out on June 26, and hyperactive hardcore-kids Endless
Dark and melodic rockers Alchemia will follow on June 27. And
don’t forget to throw the horns, I mean, where the hell else can you
(legally) get drunk near a coffin? HJC
