Mysticism And Musings
Among The Mochas
This untitled exhibition by multimedia artist Gerður
Erla Tómasdóttir features a series of fantastical
paintings, mainly of animals and nature, tarot
and spiritual imagery, and people that the artist
knows and loves. The works focus on a variety
of existential topics, including the Self and its
connection to nature, how we view and attempt to
change ourselves, and the importance of feminine
values in society. KES

If you too have seen teenagers crossing the road
wearing white veils and on stilts, no worries, they’re
not preparing for rising sea levels due to global
warming, they’re a part of Hitt Húsið Creative
Summer Groups and Hitt Húsið Street
Theatre, and are practicing their routines. The
two organisations have numerous performances
planned around the city, ranging from concerts, to
art, poetry, dance and theatre happenings. Keep
your eyes open around lunchtime on this Friday, it
might end up being pretty cool. GB

Kex Köntrí Festival
Yee-haw, it's time for Kex's annual köntrí festival,
in which the hip hostel introduces Icelanders
to everything that makes the you-ess-of-ey the
greatest nation in the world. Yes sir-y, you can
expect plenty of US-specific options on the menu
(which may or may not lead to cardiac arrest),
such as lemonade, creamed corn, and plenty of
Coca-Cola. Oh, and music, too, of the country kind.
Admission is free, but the food is not.
