G A H V E R F I S G A T A 7 6 K A F F I CAFE BAR RECORD STORE 12 C F E MAP Eating Drinking The Coocoo's Nest Nestled in a refurbished fishing hut in the flourishing area of Grandi, The Coocoo’s Nest is a cosy cafe, offering California-casual brunch, lunch, and dinner, with an Italian twist. With large windows and light wood throughout, this is perfect for a lazy Saturday or an afternoon "aperitivo" after work. If you're in that part of town, head over for a warm-up. Grandagarður 23 . Places We Like . 5 O Sushi Also called “The Train,” O Sushi's most intriguing feature is a conveyor belt that runs around the entire restaurant delivering a buf- fet of authentic Sushi straight to your table. It's the perfect place to try new dishes based on appearance alone and see if they strike your fancy. Pósthússtræti 13 3 Bergsson Mathús Offering an eclectic selection of fresh and healthy flavours, this addition to casual down- town dining prides itself on using local and seasonal produce. Using this ingredient base, they produce Middle Eastern, Soul Food, vegetarian and vegan dishes that are perfect when you need more than a snack, but less than a full horse. Templararsund 3 Stofan Voted the best place to read a book in the Grapevine Best of Reykjavík awards (2012, 2013 and 2015), this old-timey coffee house is something straight out of a Carl Larsson painting. A perfect place to spend the day sit- ting on their antique furniture and sipping de- licious drinks, both alcoholic and otherwise. Vesturgata 3 8 Bravó Bravó is your regular run-of-the-mill bar that serves decent drinks and doesn't try to be anything that it's not. The bar plays good music at a comfortable volume that allows for conversation, and provides good seating options even during late nights, when most bars have removed their tables to make room for a dancefloor. Laugavegur 22 9Prikið Prikið is one of those places that shape-shifts. It’s a warm café lined with photographs of its senior frequenters on weekdays, a hung-over hangout on weekend afternoons, and during nights it’s filled to the brim with Iceland’s resurgent hip-hop scene. Go there in the daytime for the cheap burgers; enter at night for some OTT hip-hop debauchery, old skool and the latest bangers alike. Bankastræti 12 76 1 5 3 11 Located in a small, cozy basement on Laugavegur, Tíu Dropar is one of Iceland’s oldest cafés. During the day it serves a selection of coffee, tea and food (including grandma-style pancakes), and during the night it turns into a French-styled wine bar. Lækjargata 8 Despite being the faster and more afford- able cousin to one of the top restaurants in the country, Austurindíafélagið, flavour is never compromised by promptness. Their short selection of authentic Indian cuisine is cooked with the finest ingredients, the spices are masterfully blended and the experience is wholly satisfying. Hraðlestin Laugavegur 27 Tíu Dropar 7 KEX Hostel KEX Hostel is the darling of Reykjavík hipsters and professionals and their visiting peers from abroad, drawing crowds daily. With its great views and cheap accommodation, excellent dining and choice beer selection— along with an abundance of exciting events— you don’t have to wonder why. 4 Skúlagata 28 2 10 J I 9 1 6 8 2 BANKASTRÆTI 7A - 101 REYKJAVÍK - TEL. 562 3232 E L E G A N T P R E M I S E S I N T H E H E A R T O F R E Y K J A V I K B R U N C H L U N C H A N D D I N N E R M E N U L O C A L A N D F O R E I G N D I S H E S B A R B A N K A S T R Æ T I 7 A - 1 0 1 R E Y K J AV Í K - T E L . 5 6 2 3 2 3 2 Book a VIP table for the New Years Eve Party americanbar@americanbar.is FREE ENTRY ! 6
