anthropogenic in origin at the northem
edge of the eroded area, northwest of the
known burials (Feature b? - see fígures 3
and 4). This feature measures up to 3m in
diameter, and is broadly consistent with
the horse burial described by Þórðarson
(above). That description indicates that
the human burial excavated in 1915 was
located circa 14m to the south east. A
radius of 14m centred on the ring of stone
(b?) intersects the contemporary erosion
face south east of (b?) at a point some 6m
NNW of Burial I (Feature a? - see figure
3). This location would continue a
possible alignment drawn from Burial II,
through Burial I.
The Burials
1915 (a) - Human burial
Little more is known of this material
beyond the original description.
Osteological analysis by Hildur
Gestsdóttir indicates the partial remains of
an individual between 26-35 years,
probably female. Strontium analysis on
bones from this individual suggests a
place of birth other than Iceland
(Gestsdóttir and Lámsdóttir, 2012,61-63).
No artefacts are recorded for this burial.
1915 (b) - Horse burial
Analysis by Rúnar Leifsson has shown
that the remains of at least 3 horses are to
