1 Yummi Yummi
Hlemmur, Hverfisgata 123
After long years of lamenting the lack of quick,
greasy and satisfying Asian fast-food in town, the
owners of Thai super-restaurant Ban Thai have
graced us with this pan-fried saviour! The dishes
are super cheap at 1100 ISK each , the service is
superfast but totally fresh and what seems like a
small dish will stuff you full. They now do home
delivery as well! Oh, happy day..
2 Hverfisgata 12
Hverfisgata 12
Hverfisgata 12 offers the kind of pizzas you are
unlikely to have tried before, with inventive top-
pings such as barbecue sauce, shredded pork,
pears, roasted seeds and horseradish cream.
Their bacon and egg pizza is to die for, don’t
miss it.
3 Sushisamba
Þingholtsstræti 5
Sushisamba fuses South American and Japanese
cuisines with the help of Icelandic ingredients.
To fully embrace the experience, go omakase
(chef’s choice), or perhaps get the six-course
Icelandic feast. Whatever you choose, you’ll have
a unique and delectable experience..
4 Mandi
Veltusund 3b
Here you’ll find the perfect lunch for a sunny
day, the perfect meal after a night out and the
best bite for your hangover. They prepare the
freshest hummus and tastiest shawarmas—just
remember to ask for extra spice. They’ll know
what you mean.
5 Tapas Barinn
Vesturgata 3b
For those with a bit of time on their hands, the
evening is well spent at Tapas Barinn, where you
can indulge yourself feasting on course after de-
licious course of miniature dishes served in true
Spanish style. There is also a lounge for those
who want to hang out and sip a fine glass of red..

6 Reykjavík Roasters
Kárastígur 1
Reykjavík Roasters make the best coffee you
will drink in Reykjavík. They take that stuff super
seriously, roasting their beans on-site and em-
ploying folks who know just how to churn out a
good cup of whatever type coffee you thirst for.
7 Tíu Dropar
Laugavegur 27
Located in a small, cozy basement, Tíu Dropar
is one of Iceland’s oldest cafés. During the day
it serves a selection of coffee, tea and food (in-
cluding grandma-style pancakes), and during the
night it turns into a French-styled wine bar.
8 Mengi
Óðinsgata 2
Mengi was born as an experimental place to host
intimate shows where the artist gets to perform
in front of small crowds. Hosting anything from
art performances, lectures and workshops to
music gigs, Mengi snugly seats 50 people.
9 Skúli Craft Bar
Aðalstræti 9
Named after Skúli “Fógeti” Magnússon, the
father of Reykjavík, this stylish craft bar has no
fewer than a dozen different craft beers on tap!
It may not be the cheapest place in the city, but
it’s well worth the visit.
