Iceland. There was no soil frost at Korpa in 1996 and spring came early. On April 9 all plots were green. Seida reached the heading stage on June 3 but the timothy on June 28. Seida reached anthesis on June 14 but the timothy varieties on August 9. There was soil frost at Korpa in 1997. On April 15 the soil was frost free down to a dept of 12 cm, April 22 frost free down to 25 cm, and May 2 down to 35 cm.
