CALENDAR OF EVENTS
ARTS
Until August 22
Reykjavík, Iceland: Alternative Eye at
the Reykjavík Art Museum. The exhibition
looks at how photographs are used in
Icelandic and international contemporary
art, through over 60 photographic works
from the collection of Pétur Arason and
Ragna Róbertsdóttir. The photographic
works give a overview of tendencies
reflected in photographic works of
contemporary artists, including works of
Icelandic artists. www.artmuseum.is
Until August 22
Reykjavík, Iceland: Vanitas, still-life
in Contemporary Icelandic Art at the
Reykjavík Art Museum. An exhibition of
contemporary paintings and sculptures
that may be classified as still-lifes but
were not originally presented as such.
By bringing these works together in a
new art-historical context, the intent is
to highlight certain aspects of the artists’
approach to materials and composition,
but also to bring attention to the reminder
of transience and renewal that is found in
many of the works. www.artmuseum.is
