The darkred, spherical, but soon crateriformly depressed perithecia
are gatbered in clusters which break through the periderm. Asci clavate
70—90>" 10 ii, as a rule with numerotis small (5—7X 1 — 1 .#/*), cylindrical,
curvcd, clear sporidia; but other asci occur, witli 8 2-cellcd clcar asco-
spores, lanceolate, with no constriction at the septum, straight or slightly
curvcd 10 — 14X2 5—3.8/1, often with a cylindrical appcndagc 5—6X1 /j,
which is obstrictcd and gradually forms the above-mentioned sporidia.
