“Zer eez definitely a good feeling going on in Paris at ze
moment,” says Louis-Gabriel, a self-confessed night owl and
born-and-bred Parisian. According to him, the inhabitants
have come out of hiding after years of economic recession,
and a new buzz has been created in the world of restaurants,
bars, nightclubs and shopping. I was somewhat intrigued by
his comment. Two years ago I’d called Paris my home and,
sure enough, during my stay in the city, I’d experienced the
rather unfriendly, arrogant ways Parisians are famous for,
but the atmosphere had always been vibrant and colourful.
