COSY WARMTH Stay warm this winter with a throw and blanket made of traditional Icelandic woollens. These covers are light, soft and extremely warm because they’re made of Icelandic wool. Evolving over 1,100 years of exposure to the subarctic climate, Icelandic wool has a dis- tinctive combination of inner and outer fibres. The outer fibres are long, while the inner ones are fine, soft and insulating, providing a high resistance to cold. In this conservation-minded age, Icelandic woollens have an added appeal as a natural product created on environment-friendly principles. Nature reigns supreme through the whole manufacturing process. Only natural energy sources, such as geothermal and hydroelectric power, are used in the production of Icelandic woollens, while the sheep from which the wool is harvested still graze freely in summer, as they have always done, on vast tracts of virgin land. Icelandic wool and woollen products are available in Íslandica at Leifur Eiríksson Terminal, located at Keflavík International Airport. 46 A T L A N T I C A TAX- AND DUTY-FREE NEWS BULLETIN STELLA: A CLASSIC EUROPEAN BEER Stella Artois is one of the best-selling Belgian beers and is enjoyed in more than 80 coun- tries across the world. Since 1366, the roots of Stella Artois can be traced back to the ‘Den Horen’ brewery in Leuven. And today, Stella Artois’ great taste and high quality still comes from a thorough brewing process that spares no expense. Stella Artois is brewed with traditionally malted barley – germinated on malting floors – the finest hops and is enhanced by the very best draught techniques, giving Stella Artois a dis- tinct, full-body flavour enjoyed by the most finicky beer connoisseur. Pick up Stella Artois at the Duty Free Shop in Leifur Eiríksson Terminal, located at Keflavík International Airport. A HUNDRED YEARS OF HEINEKEN Although it’s only been 13 years since beer was legalised in Iceland, the Dutch Heineken beer is the best-selling import beer in the country. This year Icelandic importers Rolf Johansen celebrate 25 years of business with the label. Heineken is undoubtedly the most famous beer in the world and is available in 170 countries. Heineken was the first beer to be allowed in the US after the prohibition years and since then it has been America’s most popular beer. Heineken was first brewed in 1863 by Mr Heineken in Amsterdam, and the red star on the Heineken bottle was the original medieval symbol used by European brewers, meant to bring a mystical power to enhance the brew. The secret behind Heineken’s success is a recipe of hops, malt barley and water which is fermented and then chilled and stored in spe- cial tanks for a week. The result is a young, sharp-tasting beer with a unique flavour. Heineken is available at the Duty Free Store at Leifur Eiríksson Terminal, located at Keflavík International Airport. BEER OF THE YEAR Danes love beer. And one of the beers they most prefer is Ceres Royal Export. Introduced in 1985, this light-golden Pilsner with a white head was declared ‘Beer of the Year’ in Denmark that very same year. Ceres Royal Export has a mild and aromatic taste and is well balanced. The use of Ceres yeast gives strong beers a ‘vinous’ character. In Ceres Royal Export, this helps to make the beer smooth. Heck, if Ceres Royal Export is good enough for the Danes, it’s good enough for you. Keep your eye out for the massive one-litre can. Bottoms up! Pick up Ceres Royal Export at the Duty Free Shop at Leifur Eiríksson Terminal, located at Keflavík International Airport. 045-049 ATL102 Leifsstö› 5.1.1904 0:59 Page 46
