This spring, Icelandair will attain a long-awaited
goal, which is to comprise its fleet into one type of
aircraft, the Boeing 757.
Airline companies aim to ensure the satisfaction of
their customers, to improve their quality of life in
some way by various means. One of the founda-
tions for every airline is its aircraft – those technical
wonders constantly developed to better meet the
needs of passengers. Large funds are invested in an
aircraft, and fleet management is the key to a suc-
cessful airline.
Icelandair has worked with Boeing for a long time
and with excellent results. Our fleet of aircraft,
which from the spring of 2002 will comprise of 11
Boeing 757-200/300 jets, offers us a chance to meet the increasing needs of the market,
as well as economising our operating costs with top-of-the-line aircraft. Customers want
safety, service and punctuality, and that is exactly the ideology behind operating only
one kind of aircraft. This simplifies and improves the training of crews and technical
staff, and the upkeep and efficiency in management, the basis for the maximum of com-
fort for passengers on their journey.
The Boeing 757 is tailor made for the unique requirements of Icelandair. Icelandair hopes
to be able to continue to offer its customers the best possible travel deals, both for those
flying to/from Iceland and also to passengers crossing the North Atlantic. The Boeing
757 offers outstanding fuel efficiency and airport performance, it is one of the most envi-
ronmental-friendly aircraft types available, and is highly flexible for use in multiple mar-
kets and stage lengths. The 757 has also proved to be extremely reliable in service.
