Icelandair Germany received the
Studiosus Gold Award for it´s profes-
sional help and personal dedication
towards Studiosus travel groups, especially
during the difficult days following the events
of 11 September. Studiosus is Germanie´s
most respected tour operator, offering
organized study and information trips to different places through-
out the world, including Iceland. The Gold Award is rarely award-
ed and the Icelandair office is only the third office in fifty years
to receive this honour. Gunnar Már Sigurfinnsson,
Icelandair general manager of Germany and mid-Europe, accept-
ed the award, dedicating it to his highly skilled staff.
Recently, the Icelandair staff at the UK & Ireland office was presented with
the Office of the Year Award for 2001. Second place went to the team
in Iceland, and France placed third. Internet sales have become increasingly
important, thus, the Internet Office of the Year Award was presented for the
first time to both the Scandinavian and USA offices. Deciding between the
two regions was not possible for both showed outstanding results last year.
Icelandair endeavours to recognise and award the tremendous effort and
dedication of its 2,500 employees in ten countries, and is grateful for each
employee's valuable contribution, since it is clear that success can only be
achieved by a well-tuned team of professionals.
Sales via the Icelandair web site
have exploded this year as con-
sumers discover the site’s value and
convenience. With three million vis-
itors so far this year and an online
marketing programme with nearly a
million members, Icelandair web
sites are setting new records for
online sales. Following considerable
investment in online travel sales skills
during the past five years, Icelandair
is now poised to reap the benefits of
those investments. Today,
Icelandair is one of the most
successful scheduled airlines to
utilise the online sales channel.
