The health centre is connected to the
Laugardalur outdoor swimming pool and in
September, an Olympic-sized indoor pool will
be completed, the first of its kind in Iceland.
The gym itself is bright and very spacious
and offers a complete range of top-notch
weights and exercise equipment. A wide
variety of classes are available, ranging from
aerobics, spinning and dance classes to
power yoga and Stott Pilates. For those with
babies and kids there are fabulous childcare
rooms with plenty of activities for little
sportspeople, including yoga and dancing.
WATERWORLD
On the lower ground floor you enter an
aquatic haven: the Laugar Spa, where you
can indulge both body and spirit. With art-
work by renowned Icelandic artist and
sculptor Sigurdur Gudmundsson, in smooth
granite that cheekily represents body parts
and spermatozoa, the whole spa experience
is aesthetically perfect.
There are six different saunas and steam
rooms available, each with a different theme.
You can experience nature sounds, a starry
night sky, and inhale different aromatic oils.
Soothe tired limbs in a Thalasso therapy
Jacuzzi, or splash around in the natural pool.
There are plenty of beauty treatments avail-
able at the Laugar Spa beauty salon, which
uses the E’SPA beauty products. Try the aro-
matherapy massage, acupuncture, hot peb-
ble, salt or raindrop treatments, or get a spe-
cial pre-party facial and massage. In
between treatments, chill out in the relax-
ation room, which features a huge central
fireplace, or enjoy delicious food or drink in
one of the three Lauga-Café restaurants on
