AT L A N T I C A 65 TAX- AND DUTY-FREE NEWS BULLETIN THE HOUSE OF COURVOISIER With its history intertwined with the rise of the Cognac regions, the House of Courvoisier traces its roots back hundreds of years in the production of fine spir- its. In the early 19th century, Emmanuel Courvoisier formed a partnership with Louis Gallois. Courvoisier enjoyed associations with many of the field marshals of the Empire, and became connected to the Imperial Court, with the honour of supplying the Emperor Napoleon with cognac. In 1811, Napoleon himself visited the Courvoisier warehouse in Paris. In 1869, Courvoisier was named ‘Purveyor by special appoint- ment to the Court of Napoleon III’. To this day, a museum celebrating Courvoisier's ties to Napoleon is maintained in the Chateau Courvoisier. The care, dedication and skill that first captured the Emperor's favour continues to be enjoyed today, in the remarkable cognacs of Courvoisier. A wide range of Courvoisier cognac is available in the Duty Free Stores at Keflavík International Airport. 0Leiffst Duty Free 604.indd 65 24.10.2004 19:38:05
