Icelandair has signed a partnership with Expedia Private Label to provide a white
label hotels booking service across the airline’s international websites. The deal means
that Icelandair will offer hotel booking through Expedia in Iceland, the UK, the US,
Denmark, Germany, France, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Finland.
This is the first time that Icelandair has offered a hotel booking service on its
international sites. The partnership is part of an expansion of its existing relationship
with Expedia Private Label, which already offers the service on Icelandair’s Icelandic
web site. Customers purchasing flights from any of Icelandair’s international sites will
have access to over 60,000 hotels in cities across the world, as well as to over 40
hotels in Iceland itself.
Gunnar Már Sigurfinnsson, SVP sales and marketing at Icelandair comments:
“Icelandair has been extremely happy with Expedia’s private label solution on its
Icelandic website. When we looked to broaden the reach of the hotel service that we
offer our customers, they became the natural partner for us. We have already suc-
cessfully implemented across seven markets and will follow these rapidly with local
roll-out – after much research we did not feel that there was another partner that
could carry out such a wide-ranging international program as effectively as Expedia
Private Label.”
Karen Bohannon, Managing Director for Expedia Private Label, went on to say that
her company’s “ability to offer a quality hotel offering across global markets means that
our partners can consistently offer their customers the best service on the market.”
She added, “With a complete international offering, an airline can maximize its ancil-
lary revenue opportunities while offering its customers a uniformly excellent service
across markets.”

Icelandair has helped bring a very exciting exhibition to the
Reykjavík Arts Museum – Harbour House. “Uncertain States of
America, American Art in the 3rd Millennium” is an ambitious
endeavor by three European curators who intend to map out
the preoccupations of young and emerging artists living and
working in the United States of America today. The works pre-
sented in the exhibition are as diverse as they are unique, and
though many are executed in familiar formats and techniques,
they are also unusual. Featuring 45 artists whose works were
selected from thousands of proposals, the featured artists are
in their 20s and 30s and use all available media to communi-
cate their ideas. The curators are Daniel Birnbaum, Gunnar B.
Kvaran, and Hans Ulrich Obrist. The exhibition will run from 4
November 2006 to 21 January 2007.
