URBAN MYTHS THE FASHIONISTA Thur‡ Sigthórsdóttir graduated from St Martin’s School of Fashion, London in the year 2000 and has enjoyed quiet success with her very original but very wearable label Scandinavian Tourist. Along with her brother Thór and friend Andrea she set up shop on central Laugavegur in a tiny pre-war boutique with original fittings, selling the designs of Icelandest youngest, hippest designers. Also on the rails you’ll find a selection of clothes and accessories by London labels such as Emma Cook, Yaz Bouquet and Peter Jensen. Thur‡ is a self-confessed “101” rat . “I don’t even have a car. When Reykjavík gets too small for me I go to London and Paris. But basically I’ve created my own universe right here.” They’re creative, ambitious, alternative and painfully hip. Iceland Review rounds up some of 101 Reykjavík’s cool crowd. By Anna Margrét Björnsson Photos by Páll Stefánsson IR In_reykjavik 11.6.2004 10:20 Page 12
