Iceland review - 2004, Page 16
THE VISIONARY Artist Jón Sæmundur Audarson has an alter ego named Dead. He met Dead at Iceland Airwaves last year and the pair have been working together to develop and promote a concept (and raise consciousness) about death which they hope will survive art itself. Jón Sæmundur (Nonni) uses clothes as his chosen medium. He explains, “Because clothes are easily purchased, they are inex- pensive works of art. It is also the best form of advertisement for the concept.” His store, Nonnabúd, just off central Laugavegur, is the ultimate in underground chic, dressing rock stars and creative types in clothes that you definately would like to be seen dead in.
