citizen. Your access to so many things is better when you speak the
local languages.” But why Iceland? “I feel comfortable to be myself
here. Iceland feels like a safe place, Iceland feels right. And I see
myself as part of the community. Here I’ve met amazing musicians,
like the band who played tonight and have been on a world tour
with me.” I wonder what his next step in music will be, if he will
continue mixing music styles as his two albums are very different
from one another. “What’s most important is to talk about what’s in
your heart. That’s real, the reality.”
And then Grant is off. The following night he’s scheduled to play
in Akureyri, North Iceland, and the night after, at the music festival
Bræðslan in Borgarfjörður eystri, a remote village of fewer than 100
people in East Iceland.
After the concert at Bræðslan, attended by 3,000 people, Grant
declares: “This is one of my favorite music festivals in the world,
in one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited.” Not bad for a
person who just sang in the lyrics to his song ‘GMF’ earlier in the
concert that he’s “the greatest motherfucker; that you’re ever gonna
meet. 
