From the jury: The picture is taken in such a way that it is as if the photographer is peeking through
the door, making the viewing experience stronger. It is symbolic of what is happening in the world
today where the phone is what appears to be what matters most to people, often at the cost of personal
interaction.
From the jury: The series shows horse roundups in a very realistic way. The photographer shows us
different angles, making the viewer feel present on site. The images are beautifully processed and the
story varied.
Daily Life Photographs of the Year:
Helgi and Védís are a young couple
who are following their dreams
and moving to Norway. They want
to provide a better life for their
children, which they believe can
be obtained in Norway. Helgi and
Védís will live with Helgi’s mother
in her basement until they move to
Norway. The image is one of eight
in a series taken of the family.
