People often ask me what the best time is to visit Iceland. I
usually answer that the best time to visit Iceland falls some-
time between early January and late December. The thing
is, Iceland is not just a destination, it is a luxury adventure. There
are few places in the world that can rival the country’s offering
of incredible nature, top accommodation and activities, in addi-
tion to vibrant culture.
We like to boast that we are the only place in the world where
you can go into a volcano, drive for two hours and then go into
a glacier. And while that is amazing in and of itself, the most
incredible thing I can say about Iceland is that 95 percent of all
our visitors are satisfied with their trip, and 85 percent say they
will come back, based on regular visitor surveys. Therefore, we
are proud to claim that Iceland has interesting things to see,
enjoy and experience, all around the country, 365 days a year.
CREATING MOMENTS
You may want to come here to experience glacial lagoons,
whale watching, geysers, northern lights, or amazing waterfalls;
but how about the 170 geothermal baths around the country
and some luxurious spas as well? Or the fact that Icelandic chefs
have placed among the top ten in the respected Bocuse D’Or
culinary competition for 15 consecutive years? With pristine na-
ture at our fingertips, Icelandic food culture is both rich and
vibrant.
Iceland is also very much a hotbed for creativity. You can likely
name a few well-known Icelandic musical acts, but did you know
that Reykjavík was the first non-native English speaking city in
the world to be designated a UNESCO City of Literature? Or
that Harpa, our new conference and concert hall, was awarded
the Mies van der Rohe prize for architecture in 2011?
Also, completely different experiences: amazing helicopter
rides over Iceland’s incredible landscapes, heli-skiing, where you
can ski from high mountains right down to the Atlantic Ocean,
stay in luxurious cabins while you go salmon fishing or, even bet-
ter, go sailing between our fjords in exclusive yachts.
WARM WELCOME
Iceland is your perfect luxury destination, with high-end accom-
modation, dining options in unique surroundings and exclusive
tours for you only. But don’t take my word for it. Iceland was
chosen by Luxury Travel Guide as the number one place to
visit in 2016. Also, the women’s lifestyle website Refinery29 says
Iceland is among the places that “every woman should go” this
year, and the country repeatedly shows up on lists of exciting
destinations on Trip Advisor and in respected publications like
The Guardian, The Telegraph, Condé Nast Traveler and Lonely
Planet in recent years.
Tourism has become one of the most important industries for
the Icelandic people, and we are committed to making Iceland
the best, most luxurious experience possible. We focus on qual-
ity, sustainability and creating great memories.
Most of all, though, we know that you will get a warm wel-
