We honour the memory of those who established our strong
roots. Our life and work as a congregation today are like the
branches of a mighty tree, one that shelters and protects, grow-
ing toward a future of joyful faith.
The congregation was founded in 1878 by Icelandic immi-
grants to Winnipeg and the first pastor, Jon Biarnason, was
called in 1 884. For years "Fyrsta Luterska Kirkja" was one of the
key worshipping centres for Icelandic-Canadians. Today we are
home to people from all backgrounds. Pastor Michael Kurtz
invites you to worship with us every Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
