Icelandic National League Executive Meeting
Meeting of the Exective — 15
November, 1986 at the Scandinavian
Centre — Winnipeg.
PRESENT: Oli Narfason, Sigurlin
Roed, Neil Bardal, Stefan Stefansson,
A1 Nelson, Gunnvor Asmundsson,
Elva Simundsson, Jack Bjornsson.
President Oli Narfason called the
meeting to order, Elva read the
minutes of the last meeting. Moved
by Al, seconded by Jack that the
minutes be adopted as read.
Business arising: Jack will obtain
some acid free folders from the
Manitoba Museum of Man and Na-
ture. Stefan will coordinate the sort-
ing and filing of the archival
materials that are to be stored at the
museum in Gimli.
Correspondence: Newsletters and
copies of the minutes of the meetings
of the Icelandic Club of British Col-
umbia were circulated.
Oli reported on his attendance at
the Canadian Ethno-Cultural Con-
gress in Toronto on 24 and 25 of Oc-
tober. Minister of State for Multicul-
turalism, David Crombie, addressed
the Friday gathering. He promised an
active involvement in the CEC and
in his portfolio. Satúrday was
devoted to workshops.
Oli reported that the booking of the
Lakeside Camp at Gimli has been
confirmed. Esjan Chapter of Arborg
has invited the delegates to their
Thorrablot in Arborg on Saturday
evening. Fron Chapter of Winnipeg
offered to assist with the Friday eve-
ning entertainment, but as meetings
have been scheduled for that night,
the offer was gratefully declined.

Peter Sigurgeirsson, Bishop of
Iceland had phoned Oli asking the
league for assistance in financing a
trip to Iceland for Rev. Eric Sigmar.
He was invited to the dedication of
the Hallgrim's Church in Reykjavík.
Oli explained that the league was not
in a position to sponsor any part of
