After discussions with the chairman
of the board of the Scandinavian Cen-
tre, the committee could ijot come to
an agreement with the centre. Neil
looked into alternative accommoda-
tions at the same building as the of-
fice of Lögberg-Heimskringla (525
Kylemore Avenue, Winnipeg, Mb.
R3L 1B5). A better offer was made to
the committee wherein an office,
with furnishings would be im-
mediately available at a cost of
$125.00 per month rent, at that ad-
dress. Moved by Neil, seconded by
Stefan, that the offer at.the Kylemore
Avenue Address be accepted. Car-
ried. Moved by Al, seconded by
Gunnvor, that the committee be
authorized to make further ar-
rangements and purchases necessary
to prepare the office for operation.
Carried.
On behalf of Hannes Tomasson,
Sigurlin reported that he had attend-
ed a conference in Winnipeg on
behalf of the Icelandic National
League on federal assistance to small
business. The conference, on behalf
of the Federal Business Development
Bank centered on the theme of
ethnic-related businesses, the train-
ing programs and assistances
available.
Stefan requested that the executive
and the chapters be notified and re-
quested that they submit any
nominations for executive office to
him for consideration by the
nominating committee. Also, he re-
quested that chapters should forward
to him the names of any members
that should be considered for
honorary life membership in the
league. These names should be
forewarded as soon as possible so
that any necessary decisions and
preparations can be made.
Jack reported that he attended a
meeting with the Manitoba Minister
of Culture, Heritage and Recreation
at Selkirk. She discussed several
avenues of funding and he had some
positive remarks re: grant proposals
for the Gimli Museum's operations.
The conference call scheduled to
take place with the executive and the
league's chapter presidents has been
tentatively scheduled for Sunday,

Season's Greetings
The Hon.
Ðavid Crombie
Secretary of State
and Minister Responsible for Multiculturalism.
